Um.... OM? Fit Training Blog for Women 40, 50 and Beyond

I know! I know! You’ve heard this all before…

Meditation is good for you.

Meditation is hip.

Everybody’s meditating.

Meditation seems so easy…. Or does it?

Sitting and clearing your mind of clutter, to do’s or the grocery list isn’t as easy as it sounds. Being with yourself can be a raw experience- setting aside the deflections and distractions of our Facebook "beautiful lives" and reaching into your real heart isn’t something you may do too often.

In my last optimal health letter- EAT. MOVE. SLEEP (and meditate!) I promised you I’d help you with the meditation part.

What? Don’t get my optimal health letters? Just email me Linda@FitTraining.net or visit www.FitTraining.net and sign up so you don’t miss another one!

OK, back to meditating….

Meditating is good for you because it helps decrease depression, regulate your moods and reduce stress and anxiety.

Meditation is hip and cool, but not only for the hip and cool anymore- it’s mainstream for good reasons.

Everybody’s meditating- kids, adults, seniors and they are getting results – so… let me ask you …are YOU meditating?

Here is a one minute meditation to start with – one minute to successfully starting your meditation practice.

The Basic Minute Meditation

  1. Find a place of solitude.

  2. Sit down.

  3. Place your legs in a relaxed but fixed position.

  4. Sit up.

  5. Set your alarm for exactly one minute.

  6. Place your hands in a relaxed but fixed position.

  7. Close your eyes.

  8. Focus all your attention on your breathing.

  9. When the alarm sounds, stop.
