New Year....Now What?!? - Fit Training Blog for Women 40, 50 and Beyond
Well, our friend, Phil has made his prognostication and Super Bowl weekend is here.
Did you even remember that 2016 is only days old? Probably not, and guess what? You are not the only one that has settled comfortably back into old routines; habits are very difficult to change.
Hey.....It's still the New Year! What is it that compelled you to promise to eat cleaner and move more in 2016? I won't give up on you!
Here are two things I suggest you try in February to get your year going in the right healthy, fit direction:
ONE: Narrow your focus.
You had a long list of "to do's" huh? Forget them.... pick ONE thing to focus on in February. Here are a few ideas:
- stand up every hour you are sitting at your desk/sofa
- do squats while brushing your teeth
- stretch in bed both morning and evening
TWO: Set your habitat to change your habits.
- try a physio ball instead of your desk chair
- set your computer on a high box and work standing up
- put your sneakers and socks at the front door to be "at the ready"
The big game day offers you the chance to do some clean eating, too.
ONE: Bring a plate of healthy eats to the Super Bowl party- and eat from it
TWO: Scan the Bowl Buffet before you select- don't put the "feed bag" on and graze- select and savor your favorites, in moderation.
I really dislike resolutions as they are an artificially created "call to action" that frankly, loses their polish very quickly. Just decide to do something small in the fitness and eating department and you'll be far ahead of all others that can't seem to make one change stick!
