Wake up and Work Out- Fit Training Blog for Women 40, 50 and Beyond

Bet you did a bit of shopping at the holidays, no? Well, it seems that exercise is getting its own place of honor in home decor, or maybe I was the only person who saw these active lifestyle themed pillows, how fun!

Did you know that research indicates that folks that get a workout in first thing in the morning may be able to stick to a program better than those that try and fit fitness in later in the day?

Here are three reasons why:

1. Your less likely to procrastinate or even skip your daily workout. If you make exercise the first thing you do every morning (even before checking Instagram or Face Book) chances are you'll get it done. There are simply more distractions as the day progresses.

2. You'll have better focus and less stress if you work out early. If going to the office is on your agenda, or fulfilling child care or volunteer activities, you'll have a clearer head and sharper focus.

3. Your other critical priorities will get top billing. After doing your workout in the morning, your family, job and relationships get to take center stage throughout the day and into the evening. Nothing messes with an intended night workout more than a child's homework crisis or a friends need for a supportive shoulder or willing ear.

I'd love to hear from the morning exercisers, what other reasons drive you to work out in the morning?

Of course, if morning time just doesn't suit your personal energy clock or your schedule, this old Chinese proverb comes to mind.

Whenever you choose to exercise, know it's one of the best things you can do in your day. Need help making it an item that gets done on your To Do list? Email Linda@fittraining.net
