How About a Staycation this Summer?

With astronomical prices for gasoline predicted for this summer’s vacation season, are you considering a staycation? You know, staying more local and enjoying what your beautiful town has to offer?

Why not do something good for your budget, your family, and the environment by vacationing closer to home? In Connecticut we have access to hundreds of beaches, lakes and parks, many that offer boating, kayaking, swimming, hiking and more. Not only will you enjoy resources that state tax dollars support, you may even lose a pound or two and get fitter in the process.

If you can’t see yourself packing your bags, donning your camp tee or participating in archery, why not create your own camp experience in your backyard, Neighborhood Park, or local beach? All it takes is a little time to organize your local custom camp experience, invite the campers, and plan the date and the “events”.

Looking to get out of your air conditioned home? Visit www.trails.com and learn about hikes for all ages and fitness levels in your local area.

Another popular option is hiring a personal trainer for 2-4 sessions with you or your family for a weekend. A talented trainer can offer a full weekend of outdoor fitness activities (from intro family fitness to challenging boot camp programs) that you can follow for the summer.

However you approach your summer staycation planning, think about taking some time to create themed fun, including camaraderie, new activities and discovery. Wishing you warm, wonderful memories under the sun-- Please pass the marshmallows!
