Is Your Fitness Routine Reliving Ground Hog Day?- Fit Training Blog for Women 40, 50 and Beyond
For a movie launched 24 years ago, the theme of Ground Hog Day - Phil Connors relieving one day over and over again -- seemingly stuck in this circular rut, is one that I see constantly in people's fitness efforts even now in 2017.
Take a look around you in the gym- the same folks are on the same machines for the same amount of time, day after day, year after year- wondering why their health and fitness isn't improving.
Or, in another example, people are eating the same thing (mostly unhealthy choices) day after day for years until they (maybe) ask themselves why they are gaining weight and needing to buy bigger clothes.
Let's not let another Ground Hog's Day come and go with you reliving that movie track yet again.
Here are 3 ways to step out of the Ground Hog Day rut:
1. Turn it up. Walk faster, run harder, swim a different stroke- all good ways to jazz up your workout and create real results.
2. Reach out. Call a professional to help you create a fresh, new and focused fitness program for what you want to accomplish. Decide what that is and get on the right track.
3. Pump up the Volume. Yeah, I know, another 1990's reference- but it works! "Pump up the volume, Pump that beat" Listen to music out of your normal genre, find a beat that moves your feet and let it carry you away.
Don't be like the real Punxsutawney Phil- doing the same thing this winter.
