Vote Today- For your health and fitness - Fit Training Blog for Women 40, 50 and Beyond

OK, it's been an energetic (to say the least) year or so getting to today's Presidential election. Of course, please vote! Whatever your personal political beliefs, it's an honor and a responsibility to help frame our country's leaders for the next four years.

My message today is about taking time to vote for yourself. Guess what, you get to vote for your health and your fitness...every day. A vote that can take you to the highest heights or the lowest lows in energy, confidence and joyful longevity.

How will you vote today? With a healthful breakfast, good hydration and a physically active day leading to a restful, regenerative sleep? Or, like most Americans, will you start your day with a calorie ridden sugar fest, little or no life affirming water and 24 hours of being sedentary. YIKES! That's a horrible slate of choices if you want to deliver good health.

There's no debate needed- you know what you need to do:

1. Start the day with a great mental intention and a meal fit for a President- lots of filtered water, protein and healthy carbs- you're day is going to be busy and productive. Have trouble figuring out a good for you "go to" (read: in the car/bus/train breakfast?) Ping me, I have some superfood choices for you.

2. Continue the day taking short movement breaks, walk around the office or neighborhood and sip water throughout. Your good intentions will help buoy you through outstanding lunch choices and your mind will continue to be sharp- just in case you need to be interviewed by CNN - or your boss/spouse.

3. Strap on the sneakers and get a real workout in. Need to keep abreast of the daily news? Of course, you're Presidential now- watch the news while using your stationary bike or treadmill, lifting some weights or elect to take a walk while streaming your favorite news channel on your headphones. When the day gets stressful, world leaders and successful CEO's know that one of the best ways to stay fresh, manage anxiety and daily pressures is to move your body.

Why not make this important day for the US an important day for you, too? Let me know if you need help- I'd love to be a chairperson on your health and fitness committee.
