Driving top down with the windows up - Fit Training Blog for Women 40, 50 and Beyond
OK, so here’s a summer time pet peeve of mine.
Cruising along on a beautiful sunny day and see a convertible, top down with all the windows rolled up!
Does that hit you wrong, too? Not only do you miss the full experience of driving top down, but it sends a mixed message to the universe.
It got me thinking, do you drive a convertible top down with your windows up, too? In my world of fitness and health that might look like:
Walking on a treadmill and leaning on the handles (definitely use the grab bars if you are unstable, but you lose a lot of the benefits of your workout if you transfer weight to the bars).
Lifting weights that are way too light just so you can check the “lifted weights” box. Lifting Barbie weights (under 5 pounds for most) isn’t the most effective way to improve your strength. Lift something heavy and feel the muscle burn!
Half heartedly playing tennis (fill in the sport here). If you are there to participate, then jump in and make it your best effort. The fitness benefits will be greater and who knows, you may win the point!
Whatever you do this holiday weekend, please don’t drive that convertible with the top down and the windows up, OK?
