We all do this, look at someone and think, "Gee....I wish I looked more like her!"
It's normal to compare yourself with others, and even more normal for our brains to think negative thoughts about self vs. others. Actually I would bet you a million dollars that there is no one in the world that is 100% satisfied with the way their body looks. No one!
Our earthly bodies are not perfect, by design. It makes for a population of interesting people, looks and styles- your body is yours alone. Your uniqueness should be revered!
I have met folks that are confident, happy and joyful in their bodies, no matter their size or shape- haven't you?
Being appreciative of your current body, even if you are improving it with more exercise and better nutrition, is the first step in creating a self that you can be very proud of.
Oh yeah, and if you think that celeb's like Beyonce are just genetically luckier than you, you would be wrong.
Beyonce actually works pretty hard to keep her good looks. She dances and works out a lot to keep her toned figure. She also eats nutritious foods that keep her skin and hair healthy looking as well as drinking gallons of life affirming water.
Certainly, there are inspirations you can take from those you "envy", like their fitness routine, recipes they love or a makeup trick, but if they spent any time with you, there would be things they would be happy to learn from you, too.
So, here's the best way to stand tall in your body, your life and the path you are on to good health and a happy attitude:
Reframe your thoughts from "I wish I looked more like..." to " I'm so lucky to have my..." and fill in the blank.
Your strong legs get you where you need to go.
Your beautiful eyes take in the world in Technicolor.
Your expansive network of family and friends adds diversity and fun to your days and nights.
Seeing yourself in a positive light not only makes you smile today, but sets you up to make healthy changes to continue to improve who you see in your mirror.
