I don’t like it, I LOVE it! - Fit Training Blog for Women 40, 50 and Beyond

Ask yourself, do you LIKE exercise? Or, are you like me and millions of others, do you LOVE exercise?

 

It’s possible, you know, to love exercise….  Not convinced? 

 

Here are three ways to make the move from like (or even dislike) to love of exercise:

 

1.  Only do physical activities you enjoy.  This might sound simple, but for most of my clients, it’s a big struggle.  You know you need cardiovascular, strength and flexibility/stretching exercise to have a balanced workout plan. 

 

Find things you love-- dancing?  gardening?  Add the right physical areas you love to be in- indoors or out, and then music you enjoy and movement gets a lot easier; maybe even fun.  Take some time to write down what you love to do in your free time and find a way to move – it’s in there!

 

2.  Demand feedback from your efforts.  Just exercising because you “have to” doesn’t feel great.  And, how do you know you are making any progress? 

 

Now, with fitness trackers, online support communities and other feedback (don’t forget those jeans you’d like to fit into!), you will not only feel the difference your exercise makes but you’ll see measurable changes.  Fire up that tracker or buy an inexpensive journal and start noting your success.

 

3.  Finally, why do it all alone?  If you find having a buddy, fitness friend or a professional that can help you on your health and fitness path helps you enjoy it more, get engaged. 

 

You have a lot more laughs, be able to share your experiences and get assessments as you improve. Take a moment to look inside and determine what kind of support you need to succeed.

 

You may not like exercise but I can guarantee you’ll love being fit and healthy,
