Celebrate Earth Day- The Biggest Playground in Your Universe- Fit Training Blog for Women 40, 50 and Beyond

Happy 45th Earth Day!  I don’t know about you, but I remember the first annual earth day – a celebration of our reliance and respect of the planet we call “home”

 

 This planet offers the most abundant ways to relax recharge and rev your life.  And planet Earth wants you to experience every inch of the wonders it offers.  And, most of them are free!

 

Why not:

  • Find a lake or pond near you and sit and watch the local water life.  See peaceful thoughts flowing in the stream and capture those peaceful thoughts for yourself by internalizing them

  • Take a walk on the beach.  Leave your shoes on your blanket - Walking in sand requires 2.1 to 2.7 times more energy than walking on hard surfaces.

  • Climb that hill (or mountain).  Climbing uses lots of muscle groups, both in the upper and lower body. Your back, abdominal and leg muscles all get exercised as well as your shoulders and arms.  Even your fingers can get in the act!

  • Visit the playground- bring the kids!  Multi-generational playgrounds are the rage- offering child’s play and adult sized exercise equipment.  None in your area?  Advocate for one!

  • Donate your time for a “clean up”.  Mother Earth is like your closet- it needs a good Spring Cleaning, too.  The time you spend picking up litter or edging the flower beds delivers satisfaction, community spirit and says “Thank You!” to this planet for all it affords us.

Enjoy your surroundings, Earthlings!
